Mission Trip Report: Kenya 2026

Our recent mission trip to Kenya was a powerful, firsthand experience of the work of Committed Believers Evangelical Ministry of Africa (CBEM), a fully registered Christian organization based in Kilifi County. CBEM exists to reach unevangelized people groups across Africa with the Gospel, plant mission-minded churches, train and mobilize ministers, and revive believers to live with purpose, anchored in the call of 1 Peter 2:9 and Matthew 28:19–20.

This trip also marked a historic milestone: our team of 7 was the first official missions team sent by Jersey Church to partner directly with CBEM Africa, deepening a long-standing relationship and stepping into active, on-the-ground ministry together.

Day 1 centered on Glory Academy, where we were welcomed by students and staff and heard a presentation from Pastor Fredrick. We gathered with 261 students, and 17 prayed to receive Jesus. We also met with CBEM pastors for orientation before ending the evening in fellowship, walking along the Indian Ocean and closing the day in song, scripture, and prayer.

Day 2 marked the launch of the Graceview Technical Training Institute for people living with disabilities. Over 500 people attended, and 18 individuals gave their lives to Christ. Each member of our team contributed seed money, prayed over the ministry, and participated in the celebration, including the ribbon cutting. We distributed medical supplies, clothing, food, and water, and received meaningful gifts from members of the disabilities community.

Day 3 was Victor Rally Sunday, where pastors from 10 CBEM churches gathered at Chafisi Church. We witnessed 27 children prepared for baptism and joined in worship. Members of our team helped lead songs, and two of our leaders participated in baptizing the children. Jersey Church was honored for its long-term partnership, and it was a deeply meaningful time of unity and prayer.

Day 4 took us into surrounding communities where CBEM is actively praying and preparing for future ministry. We traveled through Mbuzi Wengi, an area impacted by prostitution and poverty, and spent time in prayer as CBEM seeks ways to serve and restore dignity to women there. We also drove through a predominantly Muslim village where CBEM is reaching children through education and the Gospel.

Day 5 provided a Sabbath-like team day as we experienced the beauty of God’s creation on safari. We saw a wide variety of wildlife and were reminded of His creativity and power. Later, we visited a local chicken farm run by Pastor Fredrick’s family, learning how sustainable income sources support daily life in the community.

Day 6 was focused on hands-on ministry. We served at Flovan Clinic, praying over patients and assisting with basic medical care. In the afternoon, we returned to Graceview where we heard powerful testimonies, connected with university students in various fields of study, and shared the Gospel. While no one responded publicly, meaningful conversations took place and seeds were planted.

Day 7 was our final day, spent in fellowship with the Masha family and the local community. We enjoyed time along the coast, shared meals, and hosted a small sports and arts camp for village children. It was a joyful and meaningful way to end our time, celebrating relationships built and the work God is doing.

Throughout the week, we witnessed CBEM’s holistic approach to ministry, combining evangelism, education, and compassionate care. From church planting and children’s ministry to medical outreach and vocational training, CBEM is faithfully living out its mission.

Because of Jersey Church’s faithful giving, CBEM Africa was born and continues to flourish. Through this partnership, a wide range of ministry initiatives and infrastructure have been established, including the furnishing of Chafisi Baptist Church hall along with a pastor’s office and store, a community borehole providing clean water, construction of the Majaoni Baptist Church roof, and the development of Glory Academy Primary and Junior Secondary School, including 12 classrooms and a laboratory. CBEM has also established a Bible Institute, built a modern dining and conference facility accommodating 300 people, and constructed male and female dormitories housing up to 100 individuals.

Additionally, mission houses have been built, 10 church plots purchased, and multiple permanent and semi-permanent church buildings constructed. Four seminary students have graduated with Bachelor of Theology degrees, and eight churches for people living with disabilities now hold monthly services. CBEM has secured headquarters land, developed Sendemke Primary and Junior Secondary School with classrooms and administrative facilities, and launched Graceview Vocational Training Centre, complete with vocational programs, workshops, classrooms, and a disabilities resource center. To support ongoing ministry efforts, three missionary motorbikes and two vehicles have also been purchased.

As we departed, it was clear that God is moving in Kenya through CBEM. Lives are being changed, communities are being transformed, and the Gospel is advancing. We are grateful to be part of this ongoing story and are already looking ahead to future partnership and ministry opportunities.

We will be returning to CBEM Africa in Kenya in 2027. To God be the glory!
