day 1

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
JOHN 14:6, CSB

God, I know there is only one way to salvation. Jesus is clear; He is the only hope for a lost and dying world, and that includes ____________________. His/Her salvation depends on acknowledging Jesus is who He says He is, and He alone is the source of salvation. Use the people and circumstances in ____________________’s life today to point him/her to the reality of Jesus. Give me courage and boldness to call to faith in Jesus when the opportunity arises, and help me make it clear there is no other way to be saved.

day 2

I will give them integrity of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh, so that they will follow my statutes, keep my ordinances, and practice them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
EZEKIEL 11:19-20, CSB

Father, ____________________ needs a new heart. You are the only One who can change a heart that is living in rebellion to You and submitting to the slavery of sin. Apart from Your grace, ____________________ has no hope to know You and follow Your ways. I long for ____________________ to know You as his/her God and to experience the grace You so freely give. In Your rich love, give him/her a new heart, and put a new Spirit in place of his/her heart of stone.

Day 3

Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
MATTHEW 11:28-30, CSB

Lord, this world is filled with burdens. I know ____________________ experiences the reality of suffering in a broken, sinful world. People look to everything but Jesus to find hope and peace, and I know ____________________ is no exception. He/she runs to things other than You to relieve the pain of life and achieve some sense of comfort. Father, I know You are the only one who can provide true rest. Cause ____________________ to recognize the futility of looking to anything in this world for the rest he/she seeks, and let this reality drive him/her to You in repentance and saving faith.

Day 4

A God-fearing woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, was listening. The Lord opened her heart to respond to what Paul was saying.
ACTS 16:14, CSB

God, Lydia’s story gives me hope for the salvation of ____________________. Give me the boldness of Paul. Make me courageous to share the gospel message with ____________________ in a way that is clear and compelling. Help me reject the fear that causes me to shy away from speaking the Truth in love. Do for what You did for Lydia. Open his/her heart to believe the gospel. Align the circumstances of life to soften his/her heart to the truth of the gospel, and cause him/her to listen intentionally and respond humbly to Jesus’ offer of salvation.

Day 5

Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey—either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness? But thank God that, although you used to be slaves of sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching to which you were handed over, and having been set free from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.
ROMANS 6:16-18, CSB

Father, I know what it is like to live enslaved to sin. The inability to stop. The crushing guilt and shame. The longing for something more. It breaks my heart to consider ____________________ experiences life apart from You. I know all people are enslaved to sin and live in willing defiance to Your good and perfect Word. Help ____________________ understand that he/she is actually enslaved to sin. Use the pain and consequences of sin to cause ____________________ to sense a need for something more. Cause him/her to obey from the heart and submit to You as a far greater Master.

Day 6

In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’s sake. For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

Lord, cause the light of Your glory to shine in the life of ____________________. I know the clearest reflection of that glory is seen in Jesus Christ. Help ____________________ see Jesus clearly. For this to happen, I ask for boldness to speak of Jesus and help him/her understand who Jesus is and what He came to do. Bring to my mind Scripture and stories of Jesus that will help me talk about Him in a way that puts Your glory on display. Remove the blinders Satan has created to blind him/her to the beauty of Jesus. Use other people and circumstances to cause ____________________ to consider the truth of Jesus. I trust that You will cause light to shine into his/her darkness as a result.

Day 7

Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth. Then they may come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
2 TIMOTHY 2:25-26, CSB

Father, Your opponents can only know You when they experience true repentance. I know most people do not consider themselves opponents, or even enemies, of God. But that’s exactly what they are. They are held captive by Satan to do his will rather than Yours. ____________________ is a classic example of this reality. He/she will only recognize that captivity when he/she repents of his/her sin. Cause ____________________ to see his/her sin for what it is—rebellion against his/her Creator and disobedience to Your perfect law. Grant him/her true repentance, not just sorrow for sin’s consequences. Help to admit his/her sin and turn from it toward You.

Day 8

He told them, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
LUKE 10:2, CSB

God, raise up other Christians who have a relationship with ____________________ who can partner with me in sharing the gospel with him/her. In particular, cause his/her believing friends, family or coworkers to take every opportunity to speak Truth into his/her life. Allow the words we all share to reinforce the truth of the gospel to ____________________ and prompt him/her to consider the claims we are all making. Save ____________________, and turn him/her into another laborer who will share the gospel to his/her circle of relationships as well.

Day 9

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Father, give me the faith to obey You in all things, so ____________________ can experience firsthand a life that has been transformed by your Spirit. I pray for humility, so I will not merely do what is right to feel good about myself or in order to flaunt my morality in front of others. Give me wisdom to know how to leverage the obedience that You’ve called me to pursue in order to have opportunities to speak about why my life is different. Use the distinctive life Your Spirit produces in me and the good works You lead me to perform to cause ____________________ to long for the hope, peace, joy and meaning that only comes to those who have experienced Your salvation.

day 10

Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation. I can testify about them that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. Since they are ignorant of the righteousness of God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God’s righteousness.
ROMANS 10:1-3, CSB

Lord, I know it is possible for people to pursue meaningful things in this life in the vain hope that their zeal for what is perceived as good will somehow work to their eternal benefit. Far too often, those who are far from You assume things will work out in the end because they have been fairly good people in this life and given their time and energy to do what they consider good. Sadly, many are like those Paul prays for in this passage. They have zeal but lack knowledge of God’s righteousness seen in Jesus Christ. Awaken ____________________ to Your offer of salvation, and help him/her see the futility of anything other than You as a hope for eternal salvation.

day 11

Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should.

God, I need boldness in order to share the gospel with ____________________. I know the message of the gospel is a mystery to those who are lost in their trespasses and sins. At one time, the gospel was a mystery to me as well. Your plan is that people would see and hear of Jesus through the witness of those who have experienced His grace and now see the gospel for the treasure it is. Grant me boldness to speak to of the hope of the gospel. I need unwavering confidence that You will use my frail words to speak of You as I should.

day 12

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.
2 PETER 3:9, CSB

Father, You have been patient with ____________________ up to this point in his/her life. Every day he/she lives is a testimony to the fact that You long for all people to hear the gospel and come to saving faith. Continue to show mercy and extend ____________________’s life. In your kindness, allow him/her to experience the beautiful things You’ve created and that display Your glory. Protect him/her from the full extent of the consequences of his/her sin, and allow the consequences that he/she does experience to point him/her to the need for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

day 13

The Lord said to Abram: Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

Father, when I read the story of the call of Abram, I’m reminded that Your heart has always been for all the people and nations of the earth. You blessed Abram and gave him Your great promises so he could serve as a blessing to the nations. The same is true for all those who are heirs of these promises through salvation in Christ Jesus. We are all blessed to be a blessing to others—most importantly, to bless them by pointing them to their only hope in life and death. Make me a blessing to ___________________. Cause me to make Your name great as I declare and demonstrate the blessing of salvation in such away that will see Your glory.

day 14

The Lord—the Lord is a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth, maintaining faithful love to a thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, rebellion, and sin.
EXODUS 34:6-7, CSB

God, I know You as One who is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. You have shown these characteristics to me time and time again. My heart breaks for the countless number of men and women who haven’t experienced Your character as I have. In particular, I pray for ____________________. I know he/she has some concepts of who You are—many of them probably inadequate or altogether faulty. I want him/her to know You as You truly are. Cause ____________________ to see You as the great God You are, and use me to reflect your attributes.

day 15

Sing a new song to the Lord; let the whole earth sing to the Lord. Sing to the Lord, bless his name; proclaim his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among all peoples.
PSALM 96:1-3, CSB

God, the psalmist calls me to sing to the Lord and declare His salvation among all people. Cause my life to overflow with Your joy. Make me sing Your praises day-to-day. Bring to mind consistent evidence of Your grace in my life. As You do, make these realities spill over into the words I speak to ____________________. Allow me to testify to the wondrous works You’ve performed in my life. When I experience Your blessings, compel me to testify to the fact that God alone is the source of my joy and the only basis for my hope.

day 16

For when there are many words, they increase futility. What is the advantage for mankind? For who knows what is good for anyone in life, in the few days of his futile life that he spends like a shadow? Who can tell anyone what will happen after him under the sun?

Lord, the wisdom of Ecclesiastes points out consistently that life in this world is futile apart from You. No wisdom, wealth or pleasure will satisfy. People like ____________________ pursue these very things with their lives, only to find that they overpromise and under-deliver. Nothing on this earth provides lasting meaning. Only You can do that. In Your mercy, allow ____________________ to see the futility of life without You. When he/she does, don’t allow him/her to despair, but cause him/her to direct his/her desperation to You. Make the futility of this life cause him/her to see that the only hope is You. Your salvation and the hope that comes from Jesus is the only thing that will never let him/her down.

day 17

So the Lord said, “You cared about the plant, which you did not labor over and did not grow. It appeared in a night and perished in a night. But may I not care about the great city of Nineveh, which has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot distinguish between their right and their left, as well as many animals?”
JONAH 4:10-11, CSB

Father, I know You are a kind God who cares about the lost and those destined for destruction. Like Nineveh of old, our world is filled with people who don’t know their right from their left. People like ____________________ live in sinful rebellion to You. You’ve appointed men and women to be your mouthpiece to a dying world, just as Jonah was. Spare ____________________ from destruction, and use my words as a tool to call him/her to repentance. Allow me to speak clearly and boldly about the realities of hell and Your eternal wrath and call ____________________ to repent before it is too late.

day 18

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s glory, as the water covers the sea.

God, You have promised there will be a day when Your glory is seen and known throughout the earth. Right now, ____________________ does not have knowledge of Your glory. He/she is lost. I know Your glory already fills the earth. It’s seen in amazing sunrises, powerful thunderstorms and the laughter of children. Everywhere I look, I see things that cause me to praise You! ____________________ is blind to Your glory. He/she sees beauty and does not attribute it to You. He/she experiences joy and fails to understand You created it. Change his/her heart so he/she can know the Source of all that is great in this life.

day 19

So he got into a boat, crossed over, and came to his own town. Just then some men brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven.”

Father, the Bible tells many stories of unnamed men and women who brought their friends to Jesus. I long to bring ____________________ to You as well. Like the paralytic in this story, I know You are capable of doing far more than merely addressing his/her external needs. You know his/her heart, and You are the only One who is able to forgive his/her sins. ____________________ may not even sense his/her need for forgiveness at this time, but I understand all people are dead in their sins and are hopeless and helpless apart from the forgiveness You offer. As I strive to bring ____________________ to You, do what only You are capable of doing and save him/her.

day 20

He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Lord, it is amazing to think of the great work You have done in my life. As Paul says, You have rescued me from the domain of darkness and transferred me into the kingdom of Your Son. I did not deserve this type of grace. No one does. You have done for Your people what they could not do for themselves, and now I boldly ask You to do the same for ____________________. Right now, he/she is in the domain of darkness, though he/she may not recognize it. Because of Your great love, grant salvation and transfer him/her into Your kingdom of light.

day 21

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.

Father, I give thanks to You for Your goodness in my life. I know Your faithful love endures forever. You have never abandoned me, and You continue to demonstrate grace in my life, though I’m so prone to forget Your kindness or rebel against Your authority. ____________________ needs to know Your love. He/she needs more than an intellectual understanding of Your existence; rather he/she needs to experience the love You have demonstrated in my life. Break through his/her hard heart, and cause him/her to truly experience Your life-transforming love and to be able to join with me in giving You thanks for all You are and all You have done.

day 22

In him you also were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed.

God, I know You give Your promised Holy Spirit to all those whom You have saved. Your Spirit is a defining mark of Your people. I pray would ____________________ experience Your salvation and receive the gift of Your Spirit. I know it is Your Spirit who works in the hearts of people like ____________________ to convince them of their sin and their need for Jesus. I ask that Your Spirit do this work in ____________________’s life and that Your Spirit will fill and seal him/her when he/she hears Your Word and believes the truth of Your gospel.

day 23

“Listen! Consider the sower who went out to sow. As he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground where it didn’t have much soil, and it grew up quickly, since the soil wasn’t deep. When the sun came up, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it didn’t produce fruit. Still other seed fell on good ground and it grew up, producing fruit that increased thirty, sixty, and a hundred times.” Then he said, “Let anyone who has ears to hear listen.”
MARK 4:3-9, CSB

Father, cause the seed being sow in ____________________’s life to produce fruit. I know the enemy likes nothing more than to see the sun or thorns destroy the seed of the gospel in his/her life. Do the work of tilling the soil in his/her heart, so the message of the gospel is received. I know You are able to transform even the hardest heart, as You demonstrated in the transformation of the apostle Paul. Nothing is impossible for You. I ask You to show Your power once again and cause ____________________ to produce exponential fruit.

day 24

Looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him, “You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” But he was dismayed by this demand, and he went away grieving, because he had many possessions.
MARK 10:21-22, CSB

God, there is so much in this world that wars against people coming to faith in You and giving their lives to follow You as a disciple. There is perhaps no greater obstacle than possessions and money. I know You have said it is difficult for the rich to enter Your kingdom. Though ____________________ may not consider himself/herself rich in this life, I know it is possible for possessions, or the pursuit of those possessions, to cause a person to reject You. Show the futility of pursuing things of this world that can be destroyed in a moment, and cause him/her to consider the reality of eternity. As he/she does, show him/her You are a greater treasure than anything this life could provide.

day 25

When they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles: “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
ACTS 2:37-38, CSB

Father, I long for ____________________ to ask this question: What must I do to be saved? Right now he/she is content to live apart from Your love, but I know all of that can change in a moment. Awaken him/her to his/her need for the gospel. Give me the courage to call ____________________ to repentance, and grant me the joy of seeing him/her baptized as a public testimony of his/her faith in Jesus Christ. I know You forgive sins and give Your Holy Spirit to all those who are saved. I pray he/she would connect to Your Church and be discipled to maturity following his/her conversion.

day 26

When this corruptible body is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal body is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place: Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, death, is your victory? Where, death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

God, the resurrection is my hope. I believe Jesus rose victorious over Satan, sin and death, and His resurrection was the first fruits of all those who have faith in His work. We, too, will rise again one day! ____________________ does not know this same hope. Remind him/her of his/her own mortality, and create an awareness of his/her need for eternal hope. Use the reality of the brokenness of this life and the reality of death to jar ____________________ from his/her complacency, and position those who know You to testify to the hope of the resurrection.

day 27

Therefore, we don’t need to say anything, for they themselves report what kind of reception we had from you: how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Lord, Paul gives thanks for those in the Church who turned from idols to serve You, the true and living God. This is exactly what ____________________ needs to do. Though he/she would likely not admit he/she is serving idols, that’s exactly what’s happening. Money. Power. Possessions. Fame. Anything other than You! Cause ____________________ to see these things for what they are— frail and flimsy sources of hope and ultimately not worthy of worship. I pray for a time when I will be able to look back on ____________________’s life and testify that he/she turned from idols to trust in You—the only true God.

day 28

Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.
2 PETER 3:8-9, CSB

Father, thank You for being patient with ____________________. I know every day You extend his/her life is testimony to Your longsuffering and desire for all people to know and personally experience the hope that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. I also understand You could return at any moment and, when You do, it will be too late for those who have never repented of their sins and trusted You. I pray this reality will create a sense of urgency in my life and cause me to share with boldness. I ask that Your kindness will lead ____________________ to repent of his/her sins and experience life with You now and forever.

day 29

And they sang a new song: You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slaughtered, and you purchased people for God by your blood from every tribe and language and people and nation.

God, You are worthy of the worship of all people. You created all things for Your glory and made every person who has ever lived to proclaim Your excellence. This is true of ____________________, as well. When I read John’s picture of the worship of every tribe, tongue and nation in heaven, I picture ____________________ among that group. Save him/her, so he/she would join in the chorus of those who praise You as worthy. As I seek to share with ____________________, burden my heart for all people around the world who do not know You. Save ____________________, and use him/her to declare Your glory among the nations as well.

day 30

Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look, God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away. Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.” Then he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give to the thirsty from the spring of the water of life.

Lord, I long for the day when You will make all things new. This world is broken, and I know You will come and recreate all things. I know You have set a day when Christ will return and do just that. I ask You to save before that great day. Make him/her thirsty for the water of life You freely give. Use the witness of Your people to point him/her to salvation through Jesus Christ. I know You are the Beginning and the End—the only hope for salvation for all people. So, I ask You to give new life in Christ.

day 31

Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Lord, thank you for the honor of praying for ____________________ over the past month. I rejoice in the privilege You have given me to express my dependence upon you through prayer. Only You know what still stands between him/her and that miraculous moment of crossing over from death to life. Help me realize every way You desire to use me in his/her life moving forward. If it is to pray, then I would continue to pray. If it is to serve, then I would serve. If it is to have more conversations or an ongoing study with him/her, then I would do so. If others are to be involved in seeing him/her come to You, then others would follow Your leading as well. May you continue to draw ___________________ to You so he/she would come to salvation in Jesus Christ as soon as possible.

Baptism Stories: Sunday, April 28, 2019

main image

Read personal testimonies from those baptized on Sunday, April 28, 2019.

Toby Baker
This is the testimony of Toby Baker:
Before Christ, I made very bad decisions and I was not a very good friend. I came to know Christ when I was in bed saying night time prayers with my Mom and Dad and decided to ask Jesus to come into my heart because I want Him to be the leader of my life and
so I can go to Heaven.

My life since knowing Christ means that the Holy Spirit lives in me and helps me to know how to be a better friend and make better decisions. I am being baptized today because I want to obey Jesus. And the Bible says baptism is how I can show others that Jesus is my Savior.

Aiden Bell
This is the testimony of Aiden Bell:
In my life before Christ, I thought being sinful meant being disobedient to my parents or teachers. Now I know that sin is being disobedient to what God wants me to do. I came to know Christ when my 3rd grade Sunday school teacher told me about how Jesus died for me and my sins.

My life since knowing Christ has been a time of learning to walk with Him. I am being baptized today to show my obedience to Christ.

Jonathan Cordray
This is the testimony of Jonathan Cordray:
My life before Christ was filled with alcohol and drugs.
I came to know Christ when I was in the Smoky Mountains and came to the end of myself.

My life since knowing Christ makes me feel humble and blessed. I am being baptized today because I can't see my life without God in it every day.

Kaelyn Hatcher
This is the testimony of Kaelyn Hatcher:
My life before Christ was filled with being raised in a Christian home. I’ve always been to church, but never really understood it all.
I came to know Christ at church camp two years ago in our Bible study. I remember feeling excited about inviting God into my heart.

My life since knowing Christ has made me trust that God will help me understand the plans He has for me in the future. I am being baptized today to follow through with my commitment to God, my salvation, and my trust in Jesus.

Frank Hayes
This is the testimony of Frank Hayes:
I grew up going to Cedar Hill Baptist Church. My best friend Michael was always adamant that we sit right up front and I obediently followed. I have always tried to be obedient to God’s word and calling. I have a sensitive spirit and heard God’s whispers from a young age. However, I have always felt if only I were more mature more like those I admired. Salvation is not based on a feeling.

The church camps I attended were instrumental in building my faith. God has been so faithful and good to me. At bike camp we rode over 200 miles in a week staying in church basements and campgrounds along the way. Another camp was at Cape Hatteras, after campfire there I was listening to the waves crash and I prayed to accept Christ into my heart. The camp director was sitting next to me. Watching the sunset I poured my heart out to him and waited for a response. The waves crashed the silence around me, I could feel God, I still feel God. Yet no response from the camp leader the man I respected, I felt small unworthy, then I saw his earbuds. He hadn’t heard a word from me he was in his own setting sun moment; his own communion with God. At the time that is not how I saw it. I felt unworthy and lost. Yet I came home and soon after made a decision to get baptized because Uncle June was getting baptized, at the last minute I felt unqualified and I backed out. That was decades ago-I have spent years trying to be the man I felt I should be.

Have you ever woke up in the darkness and watched the sunrise? Then spent the day with family and friends accomplishing so much enjoying each other intently and only to realize the sun was setting on the day? Did you take time to notice the changes the light the birds the world around you? What do you see, hear, smell, what blessings do you see in the twilight in the moments in the shadows that you hadn’t noticed as life was going on? God is like that He is constant He is there when the stars are out when the sun rises and sets. He isn’t loud or demanding, just constant, waiting for us to notice to look into the shadows into the light and even into the darkness and see the twinkling distant stars and know how He loves us. There is nothing I/we can do to earn this grace. There is no church record good enough, no amount of money, respect, wisdom or any other feeling that will ever help us to feel saved and worthy. Grace is a gift given by the sacrifice of a pure and holy lamb a gift of a Father who sacrificed His Son a piece of Himself and it is only in humbleness and a pure heart that I have realized that God the Creator of all loves me and values me as I am as He knew I would be as the way He knew me in the womb as the way He knows I am…He has given me grace I have to give it to myself and accept that He loves me even more than I love myself and no matter if I feel I deserve it or like I have to earn it … It isn’t my record of accomplishments only His grace and sacrifice.

I am getting married May 12 to a wonderful compassionate woman, Alisa. She has shown me grace, compassion, and love. I have past hurts past “history” yet through it all she has loved me. She goes to her bible, to her faith, to her God for strength and support, and keeps coming back loving me more. I don’t deserve her love and I can’t earn it, yet she loves me. My Dad was her patient. She is a critical care nurse at OSU. She recently told Dad that he was as close a living example of Easter as she has ever known. Through the gift of another he received a heart. Not metaphorically, but the actual gift of life received by the loss of another. My Dad is a heart transplant recipient and has been given a new lease on life. I am looking to show my faith by accepting God’s grace in baptism I have been listening to God for years, but never feeling worthy. I want to thank God for putting special family friends and fiancé in my life to let me truly see examples of how His grace cannot be earned, but He accepts me as I am. This is my outward expression of an inward change of a heart transplant of my own.

Matty Jones
This is the testimony of Matty Jones:
Cause I Love You! Matty, the son of Jake and Trudi Jones, might be the perfect example of love.

He doesn't talk much or know a lot of what is going on in the world, but he knows and we know for as long as he started learning about Jesus, he has loved him.  If we could say God made a perfect example of love on this earth, it would be Matty. He loves
everyone, especially babies, but he has two special buddies here with him, Bruce Schultz and Gary Grandstaff and Matty keeps them in a special place in his heart with Jesus.

If Jesus were here today, Matty would be continually hugging him because that is what Matty loves to do.
Cause I love you! That is why he is here today to be baptized.

Cathy Klingerman
This is the testimony of Cathy Klingerman:
What was I missing in my life? I grew up in the church. I attended Sunday school and read the bible. However, as I grew up, my faith got lost. I married a loving man and had three amazing children. As time past, there was always something missing.

Then, everything began to change when two new humans came into my life. I was now a grandmother. I began to see the Lord blessing me. I began to see a different kind of joy. In their eyes, I could see my heart open up to what was once hardened from the world. I began to attend church once again. I started listening to the Word of God and found what I had been missing.

I am being baptized today to show my commitment to the Lord and to follow my next step of obedience.

Aaron McVay
This is the testimony of Aaron McVay:
My life before Christ felt like there was a huge void in my life.
I came to know Christ through discussions with Scott Fothergill. We started meeting on a regular basis around a year and a half ago. We were at Bob Evans when I asked Jesus into my heart.

My life since knowing Christ has had its share of ups and downs, but the void is no longer felt in my life. I have new priorities of what is important and it is living for God. I am being baptized today to dedicate my life to God.

Chelsea McVay
This is the testimony of Chelsea McVay:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”- Jeremiah‬

Within the past couple of years I have learned that while I won’t ever be able to predict or completely understand why things happen, what I do know is that God has a plan for me. A plan
for all of us. The plans, goals, and ideas I have in my head have most certainly not perfectly aligned with what God’s plan consisted of. I’ve learned that is ok because God’s plan isn’t to hurt me but to teach me and to help me grow in my faith and in my relationship with him.

Growing up my family didn’t attend church very often but when we did I always felt safe and welcome. As a teen I drifted away from God and the church. I consistently felt lonely and anxious, searching for what I felt like was missing in my life.

Since accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior I’ve had an unexplainable sense of peace and acceptance. When presented with the opportunity to be baptized my first thought was, “Why
wouldn’t I want to be baptized.” I come to church service learning, growing and praising as a follower of Christ. While attending our grow group I’m praising the Lord and unafraid to say I’m a believer.

I am getting baptized because I want to share my love for Jesus Christ and I am grateful to get the opportunity to share that with everyone here today.

Kim Montgomery-Carver
This is the testimony of Kimberly Montgomery-Carver:
From a young age, I knew of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. You see, I attended a Christian school starting at the age of four. This is where I learned about God. But what I was taught was to fear God, because He was wrathful. I was taught Jesus died for me, but I did not understand the importance of what He did for me. In regards to the Holy Spirit, one knew that He dwelled in you only if you spoke in tongues. This is what I knew about our Lord.

Fast forward to adulthood. My life before Christ was nothing but darkness. I always felt lost, hopeless and unloved by Him. There came a point in my life where all I wanted was death, so I attempted to end my life. And even though He saved me, I did not recognize it; in fact, I became angry with God for allowing me to live. My anger kept me from God and I continued living in the world, in the darkness. I realized the error of my ways when I heard someone say, “You cannot serve two masters.” My early childhood teaching came flooding back to me. From that moment on, I wanted to live a life for Christ. I threw away everything that was of the enemy and began to surround myself with others who loved God. But I never truly repented of my ways. I tried to “marry” the way of God
and still live in the world. Because I had not repented of my ways, I was always questioning my salvation. Until March 30, 2019. On that day I met with Pastor John and his mother to discuss my salvation and I formally prayed the prayer of salvation! I can now happily say I have been saved.

The last few weeks have been as if I am living in a dream. Knowing now beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am saved by Jesus’ blood, I no longer question my salvation. I have felt a peace
that is beyond explanation; an assurance that I know He loves me and nothing I do will ever change that. I am full of confidence and a love for our Lord. My days are sunny all the time, even when the day is actually cloudy. I rejoice in the Lord every day since I prayed my prayer of salvation.

I am being baptized today because it is the command of our Lord. I want to publicly announce I am a child of God, and I am giving my life over to Him completely.

Helen Mount
This is the testimony of Helen Mount:
Having been christened as an infant, I grew up surrounded by the love of God and Jesus Christ.

As an adult, I slowly spiraled away from my Lord, my God and my church. I was in despair, lonely, grieving - I was filled with doubt and very much in need of guidance. Then, the Holy Spirit guided me to Jersey Church. The Lord has called to my heart, forgiven my sins, loved me for who I am and blessed me.

Here I stand, a humble child of God, reaffirming and professing my faith before God, Jesus Christ and the congregation of Jersey Church through baptism today.

Tabitha Myhal
This is the testimony of Tabitha Myhal:
I came to know Christ though living in a Christian home and learning about Jesus at school and church and at home.

On May 18, 2018, I was at school in kindergarten and learning about the Last Supper. As we watched a video about the Last Supper, I prayed in my heart to God that I was sorry for my sins
and asked for Him to forgive me. I was sad and happy at the same time.

Since then I feel closer to God. I know Jesus is always in my heart.
I am being baptized today because I want to show other people that I am a follower of Jesus.

Owen Richcreek
This is the testimony of Owen Richcreek:
My life before Christ was sinful and dark.
I came to know Christ on June 18, 2014. Me and Nora [my sister] were sitting at the counter and I asked if Jesus was in my heart. Mommy asked me if I knew why we ask Jesus in our hearts. I
told her because we’re sinners. Mommy asked me if I wanted Him to be in mine and I did so she helped me pray and I asked Him to live in my heart.

My life since knowing Christ is still sinful but not dark.
I am being baptized today because I have accepted Jesus into my heart and to show that I am a Christian now.

Zach Sagone
This is the testimony of Zach Sagone:
I don't remember much about my life prior to Christ. I was very young when I accepted Christ at age 7, but I expect that my life was missing something.

I'm 14 now, but I remember the day I accepted Christ. I watched a story about Christ's life and we talked about Him and what He did for us. I just remember how I felt a tugging on my heart. I just knew that Christ was saying that He died for me. I teared up and I got on my knees and began to pray. I thanked him for dying on the cross and saving me. I threw the door to my heart open and asked Him in on December 30, 2012.

I know that my life won't be perfect, yet I know that Jesus will be by my side and he'll help me through those hard times as Philippians 4:13 states, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
I want to declare to everyone that I have a relationship with Christ and I don't need to be saved again and again. The Lord has saved me once and for all! Our Lord is amazing.

Kim Virden
This is the testimony of Kimberly Virden:
Growing up, I always considered myself to be a Christian. My family were not church-goers, but I frequently attended church with friends, and summers I always attended VBS. I realize now
that I was just going through the motions and did not fully understand the impact that complete faith in Jesus could have on my life.

I started attending Jersey a few years ago after a friend of our daughter invited her to join their family at church. Now, our whole household attends regularly and we consider that family, friends. At one point a couple years ago, I found myself having a personal crisis. Instead of falling apart and panicking, I closed my eyes and prayed. God answered. He let me know that He was there for me and would never leave my side. At that moment, I knew I was saved. A calm came over me at that moment that I had never felt before and is still in me today. I have an underlying peace within that I'm so grateful for every day.

I am being baptized today as a symbol of God's grace and declare my commitment to Christ.

Scott Virden
This is the testimony of Scott Virden:
I grew up in a home that was always labeled a Christian home, although we rarely attended church as a family. My brother and I attended vacation Bible school at a neighbor’s house one year and subsequently started attending church on a semi-regular basis with our neighbor’s family. As time went on, our neighbor decided she was no longer happy attending the church, so she started searching for a new church home. That would be the end of my regular church attendance for many years.

Fast forward to about 5 years ago. I was now married with children. My youngest daughter was invited to attend Awana at Jersey with one of her friends from school. I would attend occasionally whenever the children were participating in one of the Sunday morning services or on holidays.

One of these random weeks, I felt like the message of the sermon was aimed directly at me and I found myself moved to trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  I found myself feeling more at peace in my daily life and less on edge when dealing with adverse situations. I still have an infinite number of miles to travel on my walk with the Lord, but I feel that now is the time for me to take the step of following the example of Jesus to be baptized.
